Varamahalakshmi Festival Decoration
During the Varamahalakshmi festival, devotees seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi in her 8 forms (Ashta Lakshmi) for a prosperous and harmonious life by inviting divine blessings of the goddess into their household. Varamahalakshmi Habba is observed by married women (Sumangalis) for the well-being of their families.
Setting up Kalasha for the festival: The Kalasha is a sacred pot filled with several ingredients such as water, rice, and coins, and topped with coconut and mango leaves. This Kalasha symbolizes the goddess and has also idols, special faces, or the Image of Goddess Lakshmi.
The Kalasha is unique for each home and the decorations may differ based on individual choices – No matter how unique each person’s choices, Gandhi Bazaar caters to everyone. Gandhi Bazaar has several pooja items shops such as Satish Stores, Deepak stores, and others that provide all Kalasha items.

After adorning the goddess, the 108 names of Goddess Lakshmi are recited, accompanied by an offering of flowers. Then the devotees chant the Lakshmi Sahasranama (1000 names of Lakshmi) and other hymns praising the goddess. The puja concludes with the waving of camphor flame (aarti) or ghee Arthi and the distribution of prasadam among family members and neighbors.
