About the place :

Vidyarthi Bhavan started as a canteen in 1943 to cater to the needs of the students of the nearby National High School and Acharya Patashala – thus its name “Vidyarthi Bhavan”.

Vidyarthi Bhavan exudes old-world charm, with its vintage wooden decor, nostalgic conversations, and bustling vibrant crowd. The simple yet welcoming ambiance with photos of famous Kannada poets on the walls transports one back in time.

The dosas here have a cult following – with its signature crisp and golden outside, and thick and fluffy inside – the dose is accompanied by flavourful potato palya, a generous amount of ghee, and coconut chutney.

Besides the famous crispy golden benne masala Dose, South Indian vegetarian snacks such as Upit, Rave Vade, Idli, Khara Bath, Kesari Bath, and Poori Sagu are also served based on limited availability. Your visit to Vidyarthi Bhavan is incomplete without the classic aromatic South Indian filter coffee (not too sweet) made using the finest ingredients in the right proportions.

Despite its iconic status and food quality, Vidyarthi Bhavan remains affordable and accommodates persons from all walks of life.
